b. Authorizing the Director of Public Works to execute and record the Notice of Completion for the 1410 Natividad Road Refurbish Kitchen, Project No. 8532, Bid Package No. 10238, performed by William A. Thayer Construction, Inc.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors adopt a Resolution:
a. Accepting the Certificate of Completion for construction of the 1410 Natividad Road Refurbish Kitchen, Project No. 8532, Bid Package No. 10238, performed by William A. Thayer Construction, Inc.; and
b. Authorizing the Director of Public Works to execute and record the Notice of Completion for the 1410 Natividad Road Refurbish Kitchen, Project No. 8532, Bid Package No. 10238, performed by William A. Thayer Construction, Inc.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
On January 10, 2012, the Board of Supervisors awarded Agreement No. A-12172 to William A. Thayer Construction, Inc. for construction of the 1410 Natividad Road Refurbish Kitchen, Project No. 8532, Bid Package No. 10238, in the amount of $676,573, with a 10 percent contingency of $67,657, for a total amount of $744,230. Work at the Main Jail Kitchen was substantially complete in July 2012. On September 25, 2012, the Board authorized an increase to the Agreement for a total value not to exceed $797,061 to execute Contract Change Order No. 09 for additional electrical work for the installation of new ovens. The additional electrical work was completed in February 2013. The County directed the Contractor to rework flooring defects and the Contractor completed the rework in July 2013. Final value of the Agreement, including Change Orders 01-09, is $796,994. Work was completed within budget. Due to the extent of the rework, the project went beyond the projected schedule. The contract is now complete in all respects in accordance with the Plans and Special Provisions. The work is ready to be accepted by the Board of Supervisors.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
None.
FINANCING:
There is no impact to the General Fund. Secured funding for the Project is $1,569,580, which is sufficient to cover estimated final project costs for design, engineering, and construction. Total Project costs to date are $1,546,605. Remaining funds after Project completion will be redirected to other projects within Fund 401.
