RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors authorize acceptance of work and file a combined Notice of Completion for the second and fourth quarters of the annual maintenance of interior Park roadways at Laguna Seca Recreation Area for calendar year 2014, Bid No. 10465.
 
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
On May 6, 2014, the Board of Supervisors awarded Bid No. 10465 to Monterey Peninsula Engineering, authorizing a contract in an amount not to exceed $150,000 to complete the annual interior Park roadway maintenance at the Laguna Seca Recreation Area.  As an annual, calendar-year contract, acceptance of the work and filing a Notice of Completion are required for each quarter.  This report combines work performed under this annual contract during the second and fourth quarters of 2014.
 
The scope of work under the Laguna Seca Recreation Area's Annual Park Roadway Maintenance Contract (Bid No. 10465) included patching and pavement repairs and maintenance within the Park facility. All work for the second and fourth quarters were completed by November 16, 2014. The cost of the work for the each of the two quarters was: second quarter - $85,592.00; fourth quarter - $51,861.80; for a total contract price of $137,453.80.  The work has been inspected and is satisfactory to the Parks Department staff. Upon the Board's authorization to accept the work and certification of completion by the Board, the Managing Park Ranger will file a combined Notice of Completion with the County Recorder.  
 
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
This Notice of Completion has been reviewed and approved as to form by County Counsel.
 
FINANCING:
There is no effect to the General Fund Contribution as a result of this project. Appropriations for this project are included in the budget for Parks Department 7500, Unit 8146.
