SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) request approval of the Amendment. The MCSO operates an Adult Detention facility in Salinas. The average daily population of this facility is anywhere from 950 inmates to as high as 1100 inmates per day. The County is required to provide all inmates with three meals a day, at county expense, per Title 15 regulations.
Currently, we are in the process of getting ready to advertise for food and commissary services for inmates. Since an RFP can take anywhere from three (3) months to over one (1) year, depending on the complexity, we are coming to the board now to ask for them to approve and support this request and subsequent amendments as necessary until a vendor can be award the RFP to provide said services.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
CAOs budget office has reviewed.
FINANCING:
The cost of this Amendment been included in the Sheriff’s FY 2021-22 Requested Baseline Budget. There will be no increase in General Fund Contribution resulting from this recommendation.
