a. Accept the recommendation of the Monterey County Fish and Game Commission to award a $1,500 grant to Rancho Cielo to assist in the cost of maintenance and repairs to the lower fishing pond at the school's fishing reservoir; and

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Accept the recommendation of the Monterey County Fish and Game Commission to award a $1,500 grant to Rancho Cielo to assist in the cost of maintenance and repairs to the lower fishing pond at the school's fishing reservoir; and
b. Approve distribution of Fish and Game grant funds in the amount of $1,500 for the specified Rancho Cielo grant project for Fiscal Year 2012-2013.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Monterey County Fish and Game Commission is recommending that the Board of Supervisors approve a grant to assist in the maintenance and repair costs of the lower fishing pond at the Rancho Cielo campus. This action is consistent with Board Resolution 81-239, which states that all expenditures using County Fish and Game funds must be approved by the Board of Supervisors.
The grant application was legally placed on the Monterey County Fish and Game Commission's agenda for review on June 12, 2012. All grant projects are reviewed for consistency with California State Fish and Game Code criteria. A copy of the relevant portion of the draft minutes from the June 12, 2012 meeting is attached hereto regarding the presentations and discussions on the application. The applicant has agreed to the terms and conditions of the grant agreement for use of Fish and Game propagation funds. By majority vote, the Commission recommended that the Board of Supervisors approve the grant in the amount of $1,500.00
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
County Counsel has reviewed and concurs with this recommendation.
FINANCING:
Sufficient funds are available in the Fiscal Year 2012 -13 Approved Budget (Appropriation PAR002, Park Unit 8155) to award the grants recommended by the Commission. There is no impact to General Fund Contribution as a result of this action.
