SUMMARY / DISCUSSION:

On September 25, 2013 Assembly Bill No. 10 was signed into law, raising the California minimum wage to $10.00/hour effective January 1, 2016.

There are five classifications currently below this level:

60Q01    Aide I

80C24    Library Page

80T01    Public Service Aide I

68D01    Recreation Leader

8TC23    Temporary-Library Page

In order to comply with the January 1, 2016 minimum wage increase, the salary ranges of the above classifications will be adjusted as indicated in the attached Resolution.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

The Library Department has been made aware of this legislative change.

FINANCING:

The Library Page and Temporary-Library Page are the only classifications impacted by the new minimum wage that are currently filled with employees.  There are sufficient appropriations in the Library's Approved Budget for FY 2015-16, Fund 003, Appropriation Unit LIB001 for the recommended action.  There is no impact to the General Fund.
