a. Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign Amendment No. 1 to PSA-1043 with Peninsula Business Interiors, adding $62,000 effective August 1, 2017, to provide furniture installation for the Department of Social Services, increasing the contract total to $160,000 for the period August 1, 2016 through June 30, 2019; and
b. Authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign up to three (3) additional amendments to this Agreement where the total amendments do not exceed 10% ($16,000) of the current amended contract amount, and do not significantly change the scope of work.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign Amendment #1 to PSA-1043 with Peninsula Business Interiors, adding $62,000 effective August 1, 2017, to provide furniture installation for the Department of Social Services, increasing the contract total to $160,000 for the period August 1, 2016 through June 30, 2019; and
b. Authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign up to three (3) additional amendments to this Agreement where the total amendments do not exceed 10% ($16,000) of the current amended contract amount, and do not significantly change the scope of work.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
This agreement with Peninsula Business Interiors (PBI) is for the provision of labor for installation of furniture purchased from PBI through a National Intergovernmental Purchasing Alliance (National IPA) cooperative agreement. An amendment to this agreement is brought forward for your approval to add funding to perform additional furniture installations at several Department of Social Services (DSS) offices. The original agreement, and by extension the proposed amendment, include prevailing wage provisions in compliance with Labor Code Section 1720.
Furniture that will be installed under this agreement includes: ergonomic sit/stand desks, reception/lobby refreshes for customer facing offices, and employee moves between existing offices. The sit/stand desk purchases and installations are necessary to address rising worker’s compensation claims and employee ergonomic assessments.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Auditor-Controller and Purchasing have reviewed and approved this amendment. County Counsel has approved the amendment as to form.
FINANCING:
Funding for these services is provided with a combination of Federal, State and Realignment revenues. Sufficient appropriations and estimated revenues in SOCOO5 are included in the FY 2017-18 Adopted Budget. Approval of this action has no impact on the County General Fund.
