RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors consider adopting a Resolution to:

a. Amend Personnel Policies and Practices Resolution (PPPR) No. 98-394 Appendices A and B to retitle the classifications of Personnel Technician-Confidential to Human Resources Technician-Confidential, Personnel Analyst to Human Resources Analyst I, Associate Personnel Analyst to Human Resources Analyst II, Senior Personnel Analyst to Senior Human Resources Analyst, and Supervising Personnel Analyst to Supervising Human Resources Analyst;

b. Direct the Human Resources Department to implement the changes in the Advantage Human Resources Management (HRM) system.

 

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

The Human Resources Department determined it was necessary to update the Personnel Analyst classification series in order to modernize the classification series and ensure the classifications accurately reflect the work currently performed by incumbents. As part of the review process, while updating the classification specifications, it was determined that retitling the classifications would more accurately reflect the scope, complexity, work performed, and industry standards.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

The Human Resources Department consulted with impacted departments which have reviewed and concur with the recommendations.

 

FINANCING:

There is no impact on the County General Fund by retitling these classifications.

 

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS’ STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:

The proposed recommended actions address the Board of Supervisors Administration Strategic Initiative. The actions demonstrate the County’s commitment to meeting the Board’s initiatives in recruiting, retaining, and attracting a diverse, talented workforce that supports the mission of Monterey County.
