Appoint one member of the Board of Supervisors to serve as Director and one member of the Board of Supervisors to serve as Alternate on the 2014-2015 Board of Directors of the California State Association of Counties (CSAC).

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors appoint one member of the Board of Supervisors to serve as Director and one member of the Board of Supervisors to serve as Alternate on the 2014-2015 Board of Directors of the California State Association of Counties (CSAC).
 
SUMMARY & DISCUSSION:
Under the provisions of the CSAC Constitution, members of the Board of Directors and alternates are elected by their respective boards of supervisors to one-year terms of office commencing with the first day of the CSAC annual conference.  This year the CSAC annual conference will begin on November 18, 2014.  
 
Any member of the Board of Supervisors is eligible for appointment to the CSAC Board of Directors.  Historically, Monterey County has appointed the Vice-Chair of the Legislative Committee to serve as Director, and the Chair of the Legislative Committee as Alternate.  Currently, Supervisor Armenta is the Vice-Chair of the Legislative Committee and Supervisor Potter is the Chair.
 
Once the Board has made these appointments, the Intergovernmental & Legislative Affairs staff will make the appropriate notifications to CSAC.

Monterey County's Legislative Program is funded in County Administrative Office-Department 1050, Intergovernmental & Legislative Affairs Division-Unit 8054.  Approval of this recommendation will not result in additional net county cost.
