SUMMARY AND DISCUSSION:
Natividad Medical Center Diagnostic Imaging department, located on the first floor of building 500, has the need to replace aging medical equipment in Computer Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).  In 2013, the department replaced aging X-Ray equipment with new digitally enhanced basic radiographic equipment. This was phase one in a multi-phase project to modernize the Imaging department.  In the next phase, the department will be adding two new CT scanners, a new MRI as well as creating an Angiography hybrid suite for Interventional Radiology. The Mobile Radiology Project supports the Radiology Modernization Project by providing the necessary services to allow this project to proceed with freeing up the services outside of the department. The project is forecasted to occur over a 24-36 month process with actual construction phased into three construction phases to maintain services during the remodel.

A Request for Qualifications, RFQ# 9600-54 was created and posted following the County's requirements for securing contracts. The Qualifications and Proposals for architectural and engineering services for the tenant improvements of this facility were received on February 21, 2014, from twelve architectural firms. After review of the qualifications, three respondents were deemed to meet minimum qualifications and were invited to be interviewed by NMC Selection Committee in March 2014. RBB Architects Inc. received the highest ranking from NMC Selection Committee and, in conformance with State laws regarding qualification-based selection for Radiology specific experience, Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) experience and their process for project implementation.

RBB Architects Inc. scope and fee schedule was agreed upon in the amount of $862,450. The design timeline is to commence in September of 2014 and is scheduled to be completed in March 2015. The cost for design expenditures, purchasing equipment, and construction costs is estimated at $14,300,000.
