SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
This new Mental Health Service Agreement with Chamberlain's Children Center ("Chamberlain's") replaces Agreement A-12287 which expires on June 30, 2014.  Chamberlain's will continue to provide Room and Board services to Monterey County young adults in accordance with the client's individual education plan and other identified needs.  Behavioral Health Bureau, as lead provider of mental health services to this population of referred students is administering room and board services and will seek reimbursement from the local Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA).  The goal of the program is to reduce inappropriate behavioral and/or psychiatric symptoms to a level of care whereby the youth can return home or move to a lower level of care.

This work supports the Monterey County Health Department 2011-2015 Strategic Plan initiative to ensure access to culturally and linguistically appropriate, customer-friendly, quality health services.  It also supports one or more of the ten essential public health services, specifically:  Link people to needed personal health services and assure the provisions of health care when otherwise unavailable.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
County Counsel, Risk Management, and the Auditor-Controller have reviewed this Agreement as to legal form, insurance requirements, and fiscal provisions respectively.  A copy of this Agreement is on file with the Clerk to the Board.

FINANCING:
This Agreement is 100% funded by the Monterey County SELPA.  The amount of this Agreement is $204,696 for FY 2014-15, $204,696 for FY 2015-16 and $204,696 for FY 2016-17, for a total amount not to exceed $614,088.
