RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Approve and authorize the Director of Health to execute a Social Work Field Education Practicum Agreement between the Monterey County Health Department (“MCHD”) and San Francisco State University for students obtaining practicum experience to obtain their license in the field of social work at MCHD for Fiscal Year 2015-2016.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
MCHD requests the Board of Supervisors to approve a Social Work Field Education Practicum Agreement for students enrolled at San Francisco State University (“University”) requiring experience for their certification and/or Master’s program in the field of social work for Fiscal Year 2015-2016.
The proposed Agreement outlines the duties and responsibilities of each party to ensure students adherence to MCHD clinical and administrative policies and procedures for enrollment in the non-paid internship program. It also includes County of Monterey approved insurance requirements and a mutual indemnification per the County of Monterey standard requirements.
While this work is not directly in support of a Health Department strategic initiative, it is in support of one or more of the ten essential public health services, specifically: 4) Mobilize community partnerships and action to identify and solve health problems and 8) Assure competent public and personal health care workforce.
This Agreement contains a 30 day termination provision (Section III, para. 2), which provides that either the County or University may cancel the Agreement.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
County Counsel, Auditor-Controller, and Risk Management have reviewed and approved this Agreement as to legal form, fiscal provisions, and insurance requirements, respectively. A copy of the Agreement is on file with Clerk of the Board.
FINANCING:
There are no fiscal provisions included in this Agreement. Approval of this Agreement will have no impact on the County General Fund.
