Approve and authorize the Purchasing Manager to

donate a 1981 Ford Chateau E350 Ambulance to the

Marina Volunteer Fire Fighters Association

Upon motion of Supervisor Salinas, seconded by Supervisor Armenta, and carried by those

members present, the Board hereby;

Approved and authorized the Purchasing Manager to donate a 1981 Ford Chateau

E350 Ambulance to the Marina Volunteer Fire Fighters Association.

PASSED AND ADOPTED on this 14`h day of June, 2011, by the following vote, to wit:

SUBJECT: Approve and authorize the Purchasing Manager to donate a 1981 Ford Chafeau

E350 Ambulance to the Marina Volunteer Fire Fighter's Association.

DEPARTMENT: Sheriffs Office

RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors approve and authorize the Purchasing Manager

to donate a 1981 Ford Chateau E350 Ambulance to the Marina Volunteer Fire Fighters

Association.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

The Sheriffs Office would like to donate a vehicle which was previously used by the Monterey

County Sheriffs Office Hostage Negotiation Team to the Marina Volunteer Fire Fighters

Association. Peninsula Medics Sheriffs Advisory Council donated the vehicle to the Sheriffs

Office on August 3, 1992. The vehicle is a 1981 Ford Chateau E350 Ambulance, Vehicle

Identification Number 1 FDKE30LXBHA83264 and currently has 128,342 miles and is stored at

the County yard. The transfer will eliminate any possible liabilities associated with the

operations of the vehicle. The estimated value of the vehicle is between $500 and $1,000.

The Marina Volunteer Fire Fighters Association is a nonprofit organization providing training

for citizens and community organizations of Monterey and surrounding counties. The

organization provides and supports the community with the skills they need to respond to their

immediate needs in the aftermath of a disaster or other occurrences when emergency services are

not immediately available. The organization plans on using the vehicle exclusively for the

Central Coast Community Emergency Response Team Association C.E.R.T.). The vehicle will

not be used to answer emergency calls. The radio equipment has been removed by Monterey

County Telecommunications Department.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

The County Administrative Office  Contracts/Purchasing and County Counsel have reviewed

this report.

FINANCING:

Approval of the recommended action will have no impact on the County General Fund.
