a. Authorize the Chief Executive Officer for Natividad or his designee to execute the First Amendment to the Professional and Call Coverage Services Agreement with Allen Radner MD to provide infectious disease physician services, extending the term by twenty-four months (September 1, 2022 to August 31, 2024) for a revised full agreement term of September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2024 and adding $200,000 for a revised not to exceed amount of $300,000 in the aggregate; and
b. Authorize the Chief Executive Officer for Natividad or his designee to sign up to three (3) future amendments to this Agreement where the total amendments do not significantly change the scope of work and do not cause an increase of more than ten percent 10% ($10,000) of the original contract amount.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Authorize the Chief Executive Officer for Natividad or his designee to execute the First Amendment to the Professional and Call Coverage Services Agreement with Allen Radner MD to provide infectious disease physician services, extending the term by twenty-four months (September 1, 2022 to August 31, 2024) for a revised full agreement term of September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2024 and adding $200,000 for a revised not to exceed amount of $300,000 in the aggregate; and
b. Authorize the Chief Executive Officer for Natividad or his designee to sign up to three (3) future amendments to this Agreement where the total amendments do not significantly change the scope of work and do not cause an increase of more than ten percent 10% ($10,000) of the original contract amount.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Natividad must arrange for the care and treatment of patients who present to the emergency department and patients who are admitted to the hospital in need of medical care in the specialty of infectious diseases. Natividad has an agreement Allen Radner MD to provide 24/7 emergency department call coverage, inpatient consultations as well as outpatient services to NIDO clinic patients and oversight to the infection control department practices and policies. Natividad wishes to amend the current agreement with Dr. Radner to extend the term an additional twenty-four (24) months so that he can continue to provide these critical services without interruption.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
County Counsel has reviewed and approved this Amendment as to legal form. Auditor-Controller has reviewed and approved this Amendment as to fiscal provisions. The Amendment has also been reviewed and approved by Natividad’s Finance Committee and Board of Trustees.
FINANCING:
The cost of this Amendment is $200,000. The total cost of this Agreement is $300,000 for the period September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2024. $100,000 is included in the Fiscal Year 2022/2023 adopted budget. The remaining balance will be budgeted in the subsequent fiscal year. There is no impact to the General Fund.

The services rendered in this agreement provide Natividad with the additional support it needs in order to provide reliable and high-quality patient care which improves the health and quality of life for patients and their families.
