Approves and authorizes the Purchasing Manager to sign an
agreement and optional extensions with Central Maintenance
Company to provide custodial maintenance services and supplies for
the County of Monterey for the term of two 2) years, July 1, 2006
through June 30, 2008, with the option to extend the Agreement for
two 2) additional one 1) year terms, with an aggregate value of
approximately $800,000 per fiscal year, in accordance with the
terms and conditions within the Agreement.
Upon motion of Supervisor Calcagno seconded by Supervisor Lindley, and carried by those
members present, the Board hereby:
Approves and authorizes the Purchasing Manager to sign an agreement and optional extensions
with Central Maintenance Company to provide custodial maintenance services and supplies for
the County of Monterey, for the term of two 2) years, July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2008, with
the option to extend the Agreement for two 2) additional one 1) year terms, with an aggregate
value of approximately $800,000 per fiscal year, in accordance with the terms and conditions
within the Agreement.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors approve and authorize the Purchasing
Manager to sign an agreement and optional extensions to Central Maintenance Company to
provide custodial maintenance services and supplies for the County of Monterey, for the term
of two 2) years, July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2008, with the option to extend the Agreement
for two 2) additional one 1) year terms, with an aggregate value of approximately $800,000
per fiscal year.
SUMMARY/ DISCUSSION:
Approval of the recommended action will enable the County to obtain custodial maintenance
services and supplies needed throughout the term of July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2008.
Services will include cleaning and maintenance of County owned and leased facilities that
require a range of general and specific custodial services. The Agreement will also allow for the
procurement of supplies by Central Maintenance Company on a regularly scheduled basis. The
Agreement is based upon County requirements as set forth in the terms and conditions of RFP
#9884. The Agreement will be included in the Master Service Agreement schedule, eliminating
the need for separate agreements for each County department. The yearly aggregate value is
estimated at $800,000 and based on historical usage.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
All County departments were surveyed for usage requirements. County Counsel approved the
Agreement as to form.
FINANCMG:
Based upon the previous year's usage, funds to be used for these services are estimated not to
exceed $800,000 for fiscal year 2006/2007. Expenditures will depend on the actual services
requested by individual County departments.
