SUMMARY:

The Information Technology Department has utilized First Alarm fire alarm monitoring services since 2009. This service entails the monthly recurring alarm panel monitoring and coordination of site system testing at the 1590 Moffett Street office building

DISCUSSION:

First Alarm monitors the fire alarms installed at the Information Technology Department. This includes daily tests and monthly reports. They notify the County of any issues with the alarm line provided by the County to test the system.

This service is vital for alerting staff to any irregularities in an alarm system that could cost the county much financial loss if not caught immediately for corrective action.

This agreement is retroactive due to an unanticipated delay by the vendor in finalizing an amendment to an existing agreement in a timely manner.

The Chief Information Officer recommends the approval of this Agreement for Fire Alarm Monitoring services.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

County Counsel has reviewed and approved the Standard Agreement with First Alarm.

FINANCING:

Required funds will be included in each respective Recommended Budget for the Information Technology Department, ITD 1930, Appropriations Unit INF002.

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:

The Board’s approval of the recommended agreement will protect the Information Systems office building at 1590 Moffett Street, which is vital for the County’s information technology.
