a. Approve and authorize the Director or designee of the Department of Social Services to sign an agreement with Meals on Wheels of the Monterey Peninsula to provide congregate meals, home-delivered meals, and nutrition education to seniors, for the period of January 7, 2025 through June 30, 2026 in the amount of $438,158; and
b. Authorize the Director or designee of the Department of Social Services to sign up to three future amendments to this Agreement where the total amendments do not exceed 10% ($43,816) of the original contract amount, do not significantly change the scope of work, and do not exceed the maximum aggregate amount of $481,974.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and authorize the Director or designee of the Department of Social Services to sign an agreement with Meals on Wheels of the Monterey Peninsula to provide congregate meals, home-delivered meals, and nutrition education to seniors, for the period of January 7, 2025 through June 30, 2026 in the amount of $438,158; and
b. Authorize the Director or designee of the Department of Social Services to sign up to three future amendments to this Agreement where the total amendments do not exceed 10% ($43,816) of the original contract amount, do not significantly change the scope of work, and do not exceed the maximum aggregate amount of $481,974.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
This agreement provides one-time funding from the State of California, Department of Aging, through the Modernizing Older Californians Act to support existing Senior Nutrition Programs under the Older Americans Act (OAA). The funding will enhance in-person congregate meals, home-delivered meals for temporarily or permanently homebound older adults and provide nutrition education for seniors in Monterey County.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Auditor-Controller and Purchasing have reviewed and approved this Agreement. County Counsel has approved the Agreement as to form.
FINANCING:
Funding is provided by the Older Americans Act. Sufficient appropriations and estimated revenues of $125,000 in the Area Agency on Aging 001-5010-SOC010 are included in the FY 2024-25 Adopted Budget. DSS will incorporate total appropriations/revenues of $313,158 in the FY 2025-26 budget request.

This Agreement correlates to the Health & Human Services Strategic Initiative adopted by the Board of Supervisors by working towards the goals of improving health and quality of life outcomes by providing nutrition and health promotion services to seniors in Monterey County.
