RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended the Board of Supervisors:

 

Authorize the Interim Chief Executive Officer for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) or a designee to execute Amendment No. 3 to the Agreement (A-16600) with Jackson Physician Search, LLC for the provision of recruitment and placement of physician services, extending the Agreement for an additional two year period (October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2028) for a revised full Agreement term of October 1, 2022 through September 30, 2028, and adding $300,000 for a revised total Agreement amount not to exceed $1,200,000.

 

SUMMARY:

 

Natividad Medical Center (NMC) utilizes Jackson Physician Search, LLC to support recruitment efforts for physician specialties and advanced practice professionals (APPs) that are historically difficult to fill and essential to maintaining hospital operations and Level II Trauma Center requirements. Jackson Physician Search, LLC provides targeted candidate sourcing, screening, and coordination of interviews and placements through its recruitment services, ensuring NMC has access to qualified applicants. Extending the Agreement maintains continuity in these efforts and supports NMC’s ability to meet ongoing and future provider staffing needs.

 

DISCUSSION:

 

Jackson Physician Search, LLC is a national organization that specializes in permanent recruitment of physicians and advanced practice professionals. NMC utilizes their services to recruit qualified physicians to fill vacancies in multiple difficult to recruit medical specialties necessary for the successful operation of the hospital. NMC wishes to amend its existing agreement with Jackson Physician Search, LLC so that they can continue to provide the same services without interruption.

 

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

 

The Office of County Counsel has reviewed and approved this Amendment No. 3 as to form, and the Auditor-Controller has reviewed and approved as to payment provisions. Amendment No. 3 has also been reviewed and approved by NMC’s Finance Committee and by its Board of Trustees on August 7, 2026.

 

FINANCING:

 

The cost for this Amendment No. 3 is $300,000 of which $150,000 is included in the FY 2026-27 Adopted Budget. Amounts for remaining years of the agreement will be included in those budgets as appropriate. There is no impact on the General Fund with this action.

 

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC PLAN GOALS SECTION:

 

The services rendered in this agreement are required for Level II Trauma Centers and provide NMC with the additional support it needs in order to deliver reliable and high-quality patient care which improves the health and quality of life for patients and their families. This item supports the Safe and Resilient Communities initiative by ensuring NMC has the specialized providers necessary to sustain trauma services and respond effectively to community health needs. Continued recruitment efforts strengthen the hospital’s ability to provide timely, comprehensive care for Monterey County residents.
