Technical Advisory (GGTA) Committee, and to provide the AEE Committee a review of the current list of countywide sustainable projects.

DISCUSSION:

The GGMC Program has continued the process of conducting internal interviews to obtain input for the Work Plan.  In March 2016, the GGMC Program held the first GGTA Committee meeting.  This meeting allowed program staff to receive updates from various county departments on past and current sustainability projects.  Countywide sustainability projects listed in the GGMC Work Plan includes projects being led by the following departments:  Agricultural Commissioner, CAO Contracts and Purchasing and Fleet, Health, Information Technology, Natividad Medical Center (NMC), Parks, and the Resource Management Agency (RMA).  See Attachment A.   In addition, these department staff provided suggestions for future sustainability projects which may be considered for inclusion in the program.

The GGMC Work Plan has reached its next draft stage where key priorities have been identified.  Key projects proposed in the Work Plan include the following:

1.                     Provide a leadership role for the investigation into the Community Choice Energy project with continued collaboration with Monterey Bay Community Power.

2.                     Coordinate with other departments on a countywide solar energy project

3.                     Coordinate with other departments enhance electric vehicle infrastructure.

4.                     Lead a countywide effort to track greenhouse gas emission (GHG) reductions.

5.                     Administer the GGMC Program including enhanced internal and external communication.

The next stage of the GGMC Work Plan development will be to evaluate and integrate suggestions from the GGTA Committee meeting to be held on May 25, 2016.  Committee members will review the proposed Work Plan as well as provide input of the implementation of the proposed key projects.  The GGMC Program will work to complete Work Plan with presentation to the AEE in July 2016.
