RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors adopt an ordinance adding section 12.28.075 to the Monterey County Code to establish a 30-minute parking zone, effective all days between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., on the east side of Porter Drive from a point 545 feet from the southeast curb return of San Juan Road, southerly to the centerline of Salinas Road in the Pajaro area, in the unincorporated area of Monterey County.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
On October 6, 2015, the Board introduced, waived the reading, and set October 20, 2015 for the consideration of the adoption of an ordinance adding section 12.28.075 to the Monterey County Code to establish a 30-minute parking zone, effective all days between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., on the east side of Porter Drive from a point 545 feet from the southeast curb return of San Juan Road, southerly to the centerline of Salinas Road in the Pajaro area, in the unincorporated area of Monterey County.
Local businesses are having difficulty with vehicles parking in front of businesses during working hours preventing customers from finding parking and service trucks from making deliveries.
The Monterey County Resource Management Agency-Public Works (RMA-PW) recommends the adoption of an ordinance creating section 12.28.075 of the Monterey County Code to establish a 30-minute parking zone, effective all days between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., on the east side of Porter Drive from a point 545 feet from the southeast curb return of San Juan Road, southerly to the centerline of Salinas Road, in the Pajaro area, in the unincorporated area of Monterey County.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Office of the County Counsel approved the ordinance as to form.
FINANCING:
There is no financial impact to the General Fund. Traffic control devices are paid from the Road Fund. The cost to install the necessary signing is estimated at $800.00. There are sufficient appropriations available in the Road Fund (Fund 002, Subfund TRAF, Unit 8195) to finance this work.
