RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors adopt a Resolution:
a. Accepting the Certificate of Completion for construction of the 1412 Natividad Rd, B-Wing Window Replacement, Project No. 8531, Bid Package No. 10331, performed by Legg, Inc.; and
b. Authorizing the Director of Public Works to execute and record the Notice of Completion for the 1412 Natividad Rd, B-Wing Window Replacement, Project No. 8531, Bid Package No. 10331, performed by Legg, Inc.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
On January 10, 2012, the Board of Supervisors awarded a contract to Legg, Inc. for construction of the 1412 Natividad Rd, B-Wing Window Replacement, Project No. 8531, Bid Package No. 10331 (Project), at the Adult Detention Facility in the total amount of $161,000. Measurements and ordering of the security windows began in March 2012; materials were received in September. On September 24, 2012, construction began to replace the existing security windows in B-Wing. The County approved minor changes in the contract work, optioning for upgraded security glass and directing the contractor to hire a qualified subcontractor for the proper handling and disposal of the windows as hazardous construction material. The County also deducted the cost to reinstall the existing outer security screening as the greater security afforded by the new window assemblies made reinstalling the old screens unnecessary. The final Legg Inc. contract value is $160,930. This contract is now complete in all respects in accordance with the Plans and Special Provisions. The work is ready to be accepted by the Board.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
None.
FINANCING:
There is no impact to the General Fund. Secured funding for the Project is $283,324, which is sufficient to cover estimated final project costs for design, engineering, and construction. Total Project costs to date are $215,757. Remaining funds after Project completion will be transferred back to Fund 402 to be redirected to other projects.
