a. Approve and authorize the Director or Assistant Director of the Department of Social Services to sign an agreement with Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley for $548,709 to provide home-delivered meals to seniors in the Salinas, North County and South Monterey County regions for the period of July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023; and
b. Authorize the Director or Assistant Director of the Department of Social Services to sign up to three (3) amendments to this agreement where the total amendments do not exceed 10% ($54,870) of the contract amount and do not significantly change the scope of work.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and authorize the Director or Assistant Director of the Department of Social Services to sign an agreement with Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley for $548,709 to provide home-delivered meals to seniors in the Salinas, North County and South Monterey County regions for the period of July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023; and
b. Authorize the Director or Assistant Director of the Department of Social Services to sign up to three (3) amendments to this agreement where the total amendments do not exceed 10% ($54,870) of the contract amount and do not significantly change the scope of work.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
This agreement provides home-delivered meals to older adults that are home-bound on a temporary or permanent basis. It also provides them with nutrition education services to promote better health by providing accurate and culturally sensitive related health information and instruction.
This agreement was awarded to Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley through a formal Request For Proposal (RFP #10785) process in April 2021.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Auditor-Controller and Purchasing have reviewed and approved this Agreement. County Counsel has approved the Agreement as to form.
