RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Approve and authorize the Director of Health Services or designee to execute a no-cost Agreement between the County of Monterey and USAG Fort Hunter Liggett for the provision of reciprocal Mutual Aid and Automatic Aid in the County of Monterey for the effective date through January 31, 2025.

SUMMARY:
The Health Department seeks authorization to execute an Agreement between the County of Monterey and USAG Fort Hunter Liggett for the provision of Mutual Aid and Automatic Aid. This Agreement integrates services to facilitate and respond with the closest and most appropriate paramedic ambulance unit to emergency calls within each agency's respective designated response areas.

DISCUSSION:
The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Agency is designated under California law by the County of Monterey as the local Emergency Medical Services Agency responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the local EMS system throughout Monterey County. Under California law, the local EMS Agency must coordinate with EMS service providers and facilitate any necessary agreements to ensure the most appropriate ambulance response to medical emergencies within the Monterey County EMS System.

This work is not directly in support of a Health Department strategic initiative, it is in support of one or more of the ten essential public health services, specifically: 7) Link people to needed personal health services and assure the provision of health care when otherwise unavailable.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
County Counsel has approved this Agreement as to legal form.
