RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Monterey County Parks Commission appoint a Parks Commission Chair and Vice Chair for the 2026 calendar year.
SUMMARY:
The Monterey County Parks Commission Bylaws, adopted by the Monterey County Board of
Supervisors on June 8, 2021, provide for the appointment of a Commission Chair and Vice Chair at the first meeting of the Commission each calendar year.
Section V Officers and Officer Duties states:
The Commission shall appoint a Chair and Vice Chair during the Commission’s first
meeting of each calendar year. The officers will be appointed on a rotating basis
following the numerical order of the Supervisorial districts. The Supervisor serving on
the Commission is excluded from the officer rotation.
For Calendar Year 2025, the Parks Commissioner from District 1 served as Chair and the Parks Commissioner from District 2 served as Vice Chair. For Calendar Year 2026, the District 2 Commissioner will serve as Chair with the District 3 Commissioner as Vice-Chair.
