Approve expenditure of $40,000 to the Arts Council for Monterey County (“Arts4MC”) for costs incurred from the maintenance and development of a mural on the Soledad Fire Department from District 3 discretionary funds.

RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:

Approve expenditure of $40,000 to the Arts Council for Monterey County (“Arts4MC”) for costs incurred from the maintenance and development of a mural on the Soledad Fire Department from District 3 discretionary funds.

 

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

If approved, the money will be spent on compensating Arts4MC for costs incurred from the development of a mural on the Soledad Fire Department reflecting Soledad’s cultural history, the beautiful surrounding landscapes, and the service provided by the Soledad Fire and Police Departments.

 

PUBLIC PURPOSE FINDINGS:

In approving this expenditure, the Board of Supervisors finds that the expenditure is for a public purpose and the transaction is not prohibited by Article XVI, Section 6 of the California Constitution.  Any benefit to an individual is incidental to the significant public purpose identified in the description above.

 

FINANCING:

There is no impact to the General Fund.

This item administers grants pursuant to the Discretionary Fund Policy.
