RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the Board of Supervisors:

Authorize the Deputy Purchasing Agent for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) or his designee to execute an Equipment Addition Amendment with Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc. to add to the previous Siemens equipment extended warranties agreement per Proposal 1-O73OSY (which was a five-year agreement costing $605,265 per year) for new radiology equipment an additional one year Gold Service Contract for maintenance and repair services at a cost of $26,804 for a one year term effective upon execution for the newly purchased nuclear medicine camera.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

On December 18, 2018 the Monterey County Board of Supervisors approved Siemens quotations for installation services of new radiology equipment plus an extended warranties for the ongoing maintenance and repair of that equipment.

At the onset of 2020 Natividad purchased a nuclear medicine camera to be used at Natividad. When Natividad purchased imaging equipment in 2018 for the new radiology area, a new nuclear medicine camera was not included because at that time nuclear imaging at Natividad was not in high demand. However, during 2019 Natividad had a 20% increase in nuclear medicine imaging usage. Nuclear medicine imaging is used exclusively for cardiac patients.
