SUBJECT: APPROVE EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT WITH THE COUNTY
OF MONTEREY EQUAL OPPORTUNITY OFFICER
DEPARTMENT: County Counsel
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the employment agreement with the Equal Opportunity Officer EOO) and authorize
the Chair of the Board to sign the same.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Equal Opportunity Officer is one of only five department heads directly reporting to the
Board of Supervisors and is a key position to furthering the Board's policy against discrimination
and in support of equal opportunity for all.
It is anticipated that during closed session on July 27, 2010 the Board will appoint a new Equal
Opportunity Officer. This appointment will culminate a lengthy national search and interview
process. Approval of this item creates a formal contractual employment relationship between the
County and the EOO.
A copy of the proposed contract will be made available to the Board and the public at the
meeting.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
Supervisors Armenta and Parker conducted interviews as coordinated by recruiter Richard
Garcia.
FINANCING:
Costs will be covered under the EOO Office budget.
