a. Authorize the Deputy Purchasing Agent for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) or his designee to execute the Professional and Call Coverage Services Agreement with Jonathan Pryor, MD to provide general surgery and surgical critical care services at NMC for an amount not to exceed $500,000 for the period April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2018; and
b. Authorize the Deputy Purchasing Agent for NMC or his designee to sign up to three (3) amendments to this Agreement where the total amendments do not extend the term by more than twelve (12) months, do not exceed 10% of the original contract amount ($50,000) and do not significantly change the scope of work.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Authorize the Deputy Purchasing Agent for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) or his designee to execute the Professional and Call Coverage Services Agreement with Jonathan Pryor, MD to provide general surgery and surgical critical care services at NMC for an amount not to exceed $500,000 for the period April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2018; and
b. SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Since its designation as the Level II Trauma Center for Monterey County in January 2015, Natividad Medical Center has treated over 1,300 trauma patients. The American College of Surgeons requires acute critical care surgeons to be available in-house with a 15 minute response time for Level II Trauma Centers. In order to provide twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week care, it is necessary to maintain a core team of surgeons made-up of employed and independent contract physicians to provide daily call coverage in the Emergency Department and follow-up care to patie...
