RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Receive informational copies of the responses provided by the District Attorney and Sheriff to the 2013 Monterey County Grand Jury Interim Final Report No. 2.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The 2013 Monterey County Grand Jury Final Report was issued in May 2014. By law, elected County officials are required to respond directly to the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court, County of Monterey, to specific findings and recommendations as directed therein. The elected County officials are required to respond to the 2013 Report are the District Attorney and Sheriff. Their responses were appropriately filed on or before the June 28, 2014 deadline. Additionally, the respondent was required to provide informational copies of the response to the Board of Supervisors. Formal receipt by the Board of this response is the sole purpose of this report.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The District Attorney and Sheriff independently prepared and filed their responses to the 2013 Monterey County Grand Jury Final Report with the Presiding Judge as directed prior to the June 28, 2014 deadline.
FINANCING:
There are no fiscal impacts to the General Fund with this recommendation.
