RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the County of Monterey Board of Supervisors:
Approve and authorize the Director of Health Services or designee to sign Amendment No. 4 to Agreement A-14007 between County of Monterey Health Department, Clinic Services Bureau (Clinic Services) and Stericycle, Inc., to increase the contract amount by $40,000 for a revised contract amount not to exceed $233,200 for hazardous medical waste retrieval and disposal services.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Health Department Clinic Services Bureau (Clinic Services) operates twelve community clinic sites designated as Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) which provide preventive, primary, and specialty medical care services

Medical waste retrieval and disposal services are required by various regulating agencies, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), per waste segregation requirements as defined by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). On June 26, 2018, the Board of Supervisors approved Agreement No. A-14007 with Stericycle, Inc. to provide hazardous medical waste retrieval and disposal services for both Clinic Services Bureau and the Public Health Bureau.

Amendment No. 1 was executed on July 1, 2020 to extend services through June 30, 2022 and add a site location to scope, Amendment No. 2 was approved by the Board of Supervisors on June 7, 2022 to increase funding and extend services another two years, and Amendment No. 3 was approved on July 1, 2024 to add additional sites, extend services and increase funding to cover the additional year.
