RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors adopt a Resolution approving the Office of Emergency Services' Strategic Plan.
SUMMARY:
In April 2017, the County of Monterey's Disaster Council approved the Office of Emergency Services' Strategic Plan. This is a newly developed plan. The Office of Emergency Services' Strategic Plan is a guidance document that provides a roadmap for the County regarding the Office of Emergency Services' mission, values, vision, and goals and objectives.
DISCUSSION:
The Office of Emergency Services' Strategic Plan is a guidance document that provides a roadmap for the County regarding the Office of Emergency Services' mission, values, vision, and goals and objectives. This is required by the Disaster Counsel as a Plan that would benefit all of Monterey County and communities therein. To this end, the operating principles of the Office of Emergency Services are ratified by the Board of Supervisors and become a matter of public record for public view and comment.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Disaster Council is the authoritative body that approves and regulates the actions of the Office of Emergency Services and its emergency and disaster operations. The Disaster Council is chaired by the County's Chief Administrative Officer and is comprised of representatives from County Departments and County leaders responsible for emergency and disaster operations.
FINANCING:
The Office of Emergency Services is funded through the General Fund. Approval of this Strategic Plan will not impact the budget.
