Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the California Department of Child Support Services (CDCSS) and Monterey County Department of Social Services (DSS) for on-line access to the California Child Support Automated Systems (CCSAS) for a period of 36 months.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the California Department of Child Support Services (CDCSS) and Monterey County Department of Social Services (DSS) for on-line access to the California Child Support Automated Systems (CCSAS) for a period of 36 months.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The agreement between the California Department of Child Support Services and Monterey County Department of Social Services allows for on-line access to the California Child Support Automated Systems (CCSAS). Access to the CCSAS allows DSS staff to identify and verify child support collected for customers who are also served by CDCSS and Monterey County Child Support Services. This access helps ensure that benefit amounts are correctly calculated and received.

This MOU renews an existing MOU which expired in April 2015. The renewed agreement was delayed due to revisions by CDCSS.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
Contracts/Purchasing has reviewed and approved the MOU. County Counsel has approved the MOU as to form.
