RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the County of Monterey Board of Supervisors:
Approve and authorize the Director of Health Services or designee to execute Amendment No. 2 to the non-standard Participation Agreement 4625-SHB-2023-MONT-AM2 between the County of Monterey and California Mental Health Services Authority (CalMHSA), for the provision of State Hospital Program coordination services in the amount of $16,824 for Fiscal Year (FY) 2026-27 for a total Agreement not to exceed $42,060 for the term July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2027.
SUMMARY:
This Amendment No. 2 to Participation Agreement 4625-SHB-2023-MONT-AM2 is seeking Board approval due to its non-standard template. This Amendment shall enable the continuation of California Mental Health Services Authority (CalMHSA) to provide State Hospital Program coordination services for the County of Monterey Behavioral Health Bureau through June 30, 2027. Additionally, this Amendment No. 2 increases the number of allotted psychiatric inpatient beds at State Hospitals from six (6) to twelve (12).
DISCUSSION:
The Lanterman-Petris-Short (LPS) bed allocations are for individuals who are gravely disabled, and California’s Department of State Hospital system provides beds and services need to care for these individuals. CalMHSA provides administrative and technical expertise to coordinate behavioral health services for counties, like the County of Monterey.
