RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:

a. Approve a Grant Award from the Transportation Agency for Monterey County for a Regional Surface Transportation Program Competitive Grant in the amount of $361,622 for the State Highway 68 at Corral de Tierra Project; and

b. Authorize the Director of Public Works, or his designee, to accept, administer, and execute documents to secure these funds from the Transportation Agency for Monterey County.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
On April 22, 2014, the Board of Supervisors approved the submittal of several grant applications to the Transportation Agency for Monterey County (TAMC) for Regional Surface Transportation Program (RSTP) Competitive Grants, authorized the Director of Public Works or his designee, to act as the agent for the County in processing all documentation to secure these funds, and directed the Resource Management Agency-Public Works (RMA-Public Works) to return to the Board for approval prior to acceptance of any grant award(s). The RSTP Competitive Grants cycle included a combination of RSTP, 2% Transportation Development Act (TDA) and Regional Development Impact Fees.

In May 2014, RMA-Public Works submitted the following six RSTP Competitive Grant applications: Las Lomas Sidewalk Improvements, San Miguel Canyon Road/Castroville Boulevard Intersection Improvements, Johnson Canyon Landfill Truck Route Road Improvements, Castroville Boulevard and Del Monte Boulevard Bicycle/Pedestrian Pavement Rehabilitation, Prunedale South Bicycle Lanes, and the State Highway 6...
