RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Approve and authorize the Chair of the Board of Supervisors to sign Amendment #3 to Agreement #A-11489 with Central California Alliance for Health for the provision of health plan benefits for In-Home Supportive Service (IHSS) providers adding $2,868,106 and extending the Social Services contract through June 30, 2014, increasing the total contract amount to $7,517,419.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Central California Alliance for Health has offered the Alliance Care IHSS health plan since July 1, 2005, providing comprehensive and high quality coverage including, hospital, outpatient, primary and specialized care, prescription drugs, mental health services, etc. for a maximum of 488 IHSS providers who meet eligibility criteria. The Alliance Care IHSS health plan provides culturally and linguistically sensitive access to health care throughout the County. SEIU 6434, representing IHSS providers, is in support of continuing this health plan for their members. Central California Alliance for Health continues to have all regulatory approvals from the California Department of Managed Health Care and continues to have the necessary Knox-Keene license to provide the Alliance Care IHSS plan.
