RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Receive informational copy of the response provided by the Sheriff-Coroner to the 2013 Monterey County Grand Jury Interim Final Report No. 9.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The 2013 Monterey County Civil Grand Jury Interim Final Report was issued in June 2014. By law elected County officials are required to respond directly to the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court, County of Monterey, to specific findings and recommendations as directed therein. The elected County official that is required to respond to the 2013 report is the Sheriff-Coroner. Their response was appropriately filed on or before the August 17, 2014, deadline. Additionally, the respondent was required to provide informational copies of the response to the Board of Supervisors. Formal receipt by the Board of this response is the sole purpose of this report.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Sheriff-Coroner independently prepared and filed their responses to the 2013 Monterey County Grand Jury Final Report with the Presiding Judge as directed prior to the August 17, 2014, deadline.
FINANCING:
There are no fiscal impacts to the General Fund with this recommendation.
