Before the Board of Supervisors in and for the
County of Monterey, State of California
Resolution No: 08-226
Adopt a Resolution levying the Paramedic Emergency
Medical Services Special Tax for Fiscal Year 2008-09
at the Rate of $12.00 per Service Unit.
WHEREAS County Service Area 74 was originally established and c tinues to be
maintained for the purpose of raising revenues to support the emergency medical services system
in the incorporated and unincorporated portions of Monterey County, and Chapter 15.29 was
originally added to the Monterey County Code to provide a mechanism for rasing revenues
within CSA 74 for said purpose; and
WHEREAS on November 16, 1999, the Monterey County Board of S pervisors adopted
Ordinance No. 4043, wherein Monterey County Code Chapter 15.29 was ame ded a) to repeal
the benefit assessments that until then had been imposed county-wide and in aller zones to
raise revenues for the emergency medical services system in Monterey Count, and b) to
replace said benefit assessments with a special tax, known as the Paramedic E ergency Medical
Services Special Tax, subject to the approval of said tax by a vote of more tha two-thirds of the
Monterey County electorate; and
WHEREAS on March 7, 2000, more than two-thirds of the Monterey ounty electorate
approved the imposition of said special tax.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MONTEREY COUNTY BOARD
OF SUPERVISORS AS FOLLOWS:
The special tax, known as the Paramedic Emergency Medical Services Special Tax, as
authorized and imposed by Monterey County Code Chapter 15.29, is hereby 1 vied for Fiscal
Year 2008-09 on all taxable parcels of real property as designated in Monterey County Code Sec.
15.29.055 and located within County Service Area 74. The rate of said tax sh 11 be $12.00 per
service unit.
