RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Budget Committee receive a report on the Governor’s Fiscal Year 2026-27 May Revised State Budget.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Governor Newsom released the May Revision to his proposed FY 2026-27 budget on May 14, 2026, to be negotiated with the Senate and Assembly as part of the process that culminates with the Legislature submitting the budget to the Governor by June 15. The County Administrative Office has reviewed the Governor’s Budget Summary, the Legislative Analyst’s Office (LAO) Overview of the Governor’s Budget, and the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Budget Action Bulletin for statewide perspectives. This information has been compiled into a consolidated overview attached for your review. Also attached is a copy of the CSAC budget bulletin.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
This report incorporates preliminary budget impact statements provided by County departments and information provided by CSAC and LAO.
FINANCING:
Acceptance of this report has no fiscal impact.
