Before the Board of Supervisors in and for the
County of Monterey, State of California
Resolution No: 08-189
Adopt resolution commending James McNulty Road
District Superintendent in the Public Works Department,
for his dedicated service of 39 1/2 Years to the County of
Monterey upon his retirement.
WHEREAS, James McNulty has been employed by Monterey County i the Public Works
Department for over 39 1/2 years, starting on November 2, 1968, as a Road Maintenance Worker
and promoted to Road Maintenance Worker III on April 26, 1975; Road Maintenance Worker IV
on March 10, 1979; Senior Road Maintenance Worker on September 29, 19860; and Road District
Superintendent on April 11, 1987; and
WHEREAS, during his long years of service, Mr. McNulty has earned he admiration and
respect of his coworkers and the citizens of Monterey County through servi e performed in an
exemplary fashion; and
WHEREAS, Mr. McNulty used his initiative, ingenuity, and vast knowledge of the Monterey
County Road System to construct and maintain roads, and bridges, not only daring normal years,
but during the floods of 1979, 1983, 1995, 1997, 1998, and also during the arthquake of 1989;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. McNulty as a member of teams nominated for Monterey County's
Outstanding Employee Teams in 1995 for Flood Recovery and 2001 for Chip Sealing; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Monterey County Board of Supervisors, on behalf of the
County and all the citizens thereof, hereby acknowledges Mr. McNulty's contributions to the welfare of the
residents of the County; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board hereby congratulates Mr McNulty upon his
retirement and wishes him success, good health, and happiness in all future e deavors.
PASSED AND ADOPTED on this 24th day of June, 2008, upon motion of Supervisor Potter,
seconded by Supervisor Salinas, by the following vote, to-wit:
