RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Approve and authorize the Director of Health to sign Amendment No. 1 to Mental Health Services Agreement A-12253 with Medical Hill Rehabilitation Center, L.L.C. dba Medical Hill Rehabilitation to increase the existing Agreement amount by $145,192.69 for Fiscal Year (FY) 2013-14 and $151,822.07 for FY 2014-15 for a new total contract amount not to exceed $1,604,693.30.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Medical Hill Rehabilitation Center, L.L.C. dba Medical Hill Rehabilitation is an Institute for Mental Disease (IMD) that provides skilled nursing services to adults with neurobehavioral disorders requiring acute medical care. The proposed Amendment No.1 will increase the contract amount to continue meeting the needs of eight (8) Monterey County Behavioral Health Bureau (MCBHB) clients requiring this level of service. Placement of MCBHB clients into an IMD is more cost effective than a state hospital.

This work supports the Monterey County Health Department 2011-2015 strategic plan initiative: 3) Ensure access to culturally and linguistically appropriate, customer-friendly, quality health services. It also supports one of the ten essential public health services, specifically: 7) Link people to needed personal health services and assure the provisions of health care when otherwise unavailable.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The County Counsel and Auditor-Controller have reviewed and approved this Amendment No. 1 to Agreement A-12253 as to legal form and fiscal provisions. This Amendment No. 1 is on file with Cler...
