RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the Memorandum of Understanding’s (MOU) for the Monterey County Service Employees International Union, Local 521 (SEIU), Units F, H, J, K and temporary employees, Monterey County Counsel Employee Association (MCCEA), Unit G, for the period July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2027.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
SEIU and the County of Monterey reached a Tentative Agreement (TA) for the Bargaining Units F, H, J, K and temporary employees on August 28, 2024. On September 9, 2024, SEIU confirmed the TA had been ratified. This TA was considered and approved by the Board of Supervisors on September 10, 2024, in closed session. The SEIU MOU provides for changes to include benefits and wages as presented.
MCCEA and the County of Monterey reached a Tentative Agreement (TA) for the Bargaining Unit G on October 25, 2024. On October 25, 2024, MCCEA confirmed the TA had been ratified. This TA was considered and approved by the Board of Supervisors on November 12, 2024, in closed session. The MCCEA MOU provides for changes to include benefits and wages as presented.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Unions and County of Monterey staff contributed to the development of the MOU as presented.
FINANCING:
The departments shall absorb the annualized cost of this agreement in FY 2024-25. If needed, the department will request additional funding during the budget process in FY 2025-26.
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:
The approval of this MOU by the Board of Supervisors will assist in recruiting and retaining a diverse and talented workforce to support the mission of Monterey County.
