Title: Adopt a Resolution to: a. RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors adopts a Resolution to:
a. Amend the Public Defender Budget Unit 2270-8169-Fund 001 - Appropriation Unit PUB001 to reallocate and reclassify one (1) Chief Deputy Public Defender to one (1) Assistant Public Defender as indicated in Attachment A with an effective date of November 19, 2022; and
b. Direct the County Administrative Office and the Auditor-Controller to incorporate the approved position change in the FY 2022-23 Adopted Budget.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Human Resources Department recently conducted a classification study of the Chief Deputy Public Defender position in the County's Public Defender's Office. The study found that the Chief Deputy Public Defender classification no longer aligns with the duties and responsibilities the incumbent is currently performing. Given the duties and responsibilities, it was determined there is a need to reclassify the position to an Assistant Public Defender.

Therefore, the Human Resources Department recommends the Board of Supervisors to approve the reallocation and reclassification of one (1) Chief Deputy Public Defender to one (1) Assistant Public Defender classification to more accurately reflect the level and scope of the duties being performed by the incumbent.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
