Title: a. RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:

a. Authorize the Sheriff’s Office to accept $85,000 from the Department of Health Care Services via the Health Management Associates, Inc (the Sub-Recipient) for Medication Assisted Treatment Expansion Program; and

b. Approve and Authorize the Monterey County Sheriff or her designee to execute a Memorandum of Understanding with Health Management Associates, Inc, for the Medication Assisted Treatment Expansion Project and all related documentation on behalf of the County, retroactive to March 1, 2024 thru June 30, 2025, in the amount of $85,000.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

The California Department of Health Care Services has been awarded a grant in response to the State Opioid Response and wants to partner with the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) again via Health Management Associates, Inc. The Medication Assisted Treatment Expansion Project (MAT) provides direct grant funding to assist in running the program. These funds are intended to assist in providing support to staff, crisis planning, community transition, screening and assessments in County Jails, which would consist of intake, counseling medication, etc. The position will be grant funded, once the position is no longer funded by a grant the position will be vacated.
