Title

Adopt an ordinance amending Chapters 2.27, 2.28, 2.29, 2.30, 2.31 and 2.36 of the Monterey County Code relating to the structure and functions of the Resource Management Agency and appointment of the County Surveyor.

 

Report

RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors adopt an ordinance amending Chapters 2.27, 2.28, 2.29, 2.30, 2.31 and 2.36 of the Monterey County Code relating to the structure and functions of the Resource Management Agency and appointment of the County Surveyor.

 

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

On July 12, 2016, the Board of Supervisors introduced, waived the reading and set July 19, 2016 at 10:30 a.m., (Consent Agenda) for adoption of an Ordinance amending Chapters 2.27, 2.28, 2.29, 2.30, 2.31 and 2.36 of the Monterey County Code relating to the structure and functions of the Resource Management Agency and appointment of the County Surveyor.  On July 19, 2016, the Board of Supervisors continued this matter to July 26, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. (Consent Agenda).

 

Monterey County Code (MCC) divides functions assigned to the RMA into Chapters 2.27, 2.28, 2.29, 2.30, 2.31 and 2.36.  This ordinance reflects the operational changes being made within the RMA as it moves toward a more sustainable organization model.

 

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

RMA worked with County Counsel’s office to develop ordinance (Title 2) amendments consistent with State law. 

 

FINANCING:

The proposed actions are expected to be budget neutral and the RMA is able to manage the cost of these positions within the existing adopted budget.
