RECOMMENDATION/SUMMARY:
a. Authorize and approve the Director of the Monterey County Free Libraries ("MCFL") to execute a three (3) year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the term of July 9, 2024 to July 8, 2027 with the Friends of the Andy Ausonio Library ("Friends") to partner with Monterey County on behalf of MCFL and
b. Authorize the Library Director to execute up to three (3) future annual amendments to the agreement that do not significantly alter the scope of work.
DISCUSSION:
The Friends of the Andy Ausonio Library (Friends) have supported the activities and facility of the Andy Ausonio Library in Castroville, working closely with MCFL staff to bring additional programs, materials, and services to the community.
This MOU outlines roles and responsibilities for continued collaborative work between MCFL and the Friends, benefitting the entire Castroville community. The Friends currently have no paid employees and do not own or lease vehicles for their work, and requested changes to the terms regarding provision of auto insurance. This change does not impact their service to the community via their collaboration with MCFL.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Office of County Counsel has reviewed this item and does not recommend approval based on the addition of langauge to the provisions for auto insurance.
FINANCING:
There is no funding required for this item.
