RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and authorize the Director or Assistant Director of the Department of Social Services to sign an agreement with the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation for $711,388, to provide childcare services to foster youth placed in family care settings for the period of July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2024; and
b. Authorize the Director or Assistant Director of the Department of Social Services to sign up to three (3) amendments to this agreement where the total amendments do not exceed 10% ($71,138) of the contract amount and do not significantly change the scope of work.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
This agreement with The Mexican American Opportunity Foundation provides childcare services to eligible children with an open Monterey County Child Welfare case. These services support the Emergency Child Care Bridge Program in Monterey County, funded by the California Department of Social Services (CDSS), to provide counties with the funding needed to provide childcare for foster care children placed in an in-home family setting. The intent of the program is to alleviate common barriers to placing foster youth in family care settings by providing temporary childcare services and resources to assist families in identifying long-term childcare.
