It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Receive the County of Monterey Parks Commission 2024 Annual Report to the Board of Supervisors.
SUMMARY:
The Parks Commission 2024 Annual Report is submitted to the Board of Supervisors.
DISCUSSION:
The County of Monterey (County) Parks Commission (Commission) was established in April 1966, to act in an advisory capacity to the County Board of Supervisors and the designated Department Director in the promoting, planning, maintenance, development, and operation of all recreation areas and facilities in the County Regional Parks system.
The Parks Commission is charged with submitting an annual report to the Board of Supervisors by July 30th each year summarizing the Parks Commission’s activities for the prior year. The Commission worked with the Department of Public Works, Facilities and Parks (PWFP) staff in the preparation of this report.
Staff requests the Board receive the Monterey County Parks Commission 2024 Annual Report (Attachment A).
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT/COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
The Department of Public Works, Facilities and Parks serves as staff to the Parks Commission. The report was reviewed for accuracy by the Parks Commission Chair and Vice Chair. The Office of County Counsel has reviewed and approved the report.
FINANCING:
Parks Commissioners serve without compensation other than for reimbursement of reasonable and necessary expenses incurred for travel, lodging, and meals while on official business. Reimbursement is subject to the approval of the Board of Supervisors. No expense claims were submitted by the Parks Commissioners for Calendar Year 2024.
