a. Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign a no-cost Memorandum of Understanding with the North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians of California for Tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families retroactive to March 1, 2017.
b. Accept the non-standard indemnification language as recommended by the Director of the Department of Social Services; and
c. Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign up to three (3) amendments that do not significantly change the scope of work.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign a no-cost Memorandum of Understanding with the North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians of California for Tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families retroactive to March 1, 2017.
b. Accept the non-standard indemnification language as recommended by the Director of the Department of Social Services; and
c. Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign up to three (3) amendments that do not significantly change the scope of work.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Monterey County Department of Social Services (MCDSS), through the Community Benefits and Employment Services Branches, currently serves eligible Monterey County residents with California Work Opportunity and Responsibilities to Kids (CalWORKs).
This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishes a working relationship between the MCDSS and the North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians of California (NFRMIC) to transfer the delivery of services provided to Native American families residing in Monterey County. Native American families of Monterey County who currently receive CalWORKs benefits and services are eligible to choose to voluntarily transition to receive Tribal TANF benefits instead of CalWORKS.
