RECOMMENDATION:
a. Approve the Director of Health Services or designee to accept a donation from the Estate of Lynda C. Milligan Trust of $5,000 for Animal Services; and
b. Authorize the Director of Health Services or designee to execute the donation Acceptance form (Attachment B).

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The County of Monterey, Animal Services received notification of a generous bequest in the estate of Lynda C. Milligan, including a $5,000 gift for the County of Monterey Animal Services. The gift will be used to for the benefit of Animal Services.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Offices of County Counsel and the Auditor-Controller have reviewed and approved this item as to legal form and fiscal provision, respectively.

FINANCING:
Purchases from this bequest, as it is one-time revenue, will not be used to support staffing or other ongoing expenditures. The Department will manage expenditures within existing appropriations in the Animal Services' Fiscal Year 2023-24 Adopted Budget.
