RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Capital Improvement Committee receive a report on Natividad Medical Center's key capital projects from January 1, 2023, through June 30, 2023.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Natividad Medical Center (NMC) manages, operates, and maintains facilities and roads within the NMC campus. The Facilities and Construction Department staff administer capital projects focused on strategically upgrading the hospital by reconfiguring and remodeling the campus to accommodate healthcare services better.

Active Projects

Nurse Call:
The original Fisher Berkley nurse call system put into service in 1998 is a traditional system with a centralized annunciator panel with audible alarms and visual displays at the nurse stations. Additionally, the call system had a light that illuminates to alert staff of a fire or medical emergency. All systems were original and didn't have an interface with computers or other communication devices such as pagers and phones. The current Fisher Berkley Nurse Call system is at the end of life; discontinued replacement parts.

NMC was issued a building permit from the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) on April 30, 2021. NMC initiated and assigned the project to a JOC contractor and received a price proposal. On June 16, 2021, Ausonio Inc. started working on the infrastructure and installing the nurse call system. On August 6, 2021, NMC went live in the first set of patient rooms. The project has completed the installation of the nurse call system and trained the staff on proper use and the project has a remaining balance of $143,943 as of June 2023.
