Title: a. RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and authorize the Director of Health to sign a three-year Mental Health Services Agreement with the Alliance on Aging for senior peer counseling services in the amount of $146,720 for Fiscal Year (FY) 2013-14, $146,720 for FY 2014-15, and $146,720 for FY 2015-16, for a total Agreement in the amount of $440,160; and

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Since September 2007, the Monterey County Health Department, Behavioral Health Bureau, has contracted with the Alliance on Aging to provide the Senior Peer Counseling (SPC) Program. Services include mental health intervention, support and referral services to older adults suffering from depression, anxiety, loss, isolation, and other stressors. The SPC Program has been expanded to also serve the Salinas Valley, with a particular focus on underserved Latino older adults.
